Actualizado: 10 may 2022

We are now jumping from traditional media to a more digital journalism, and, for getting deeper into this topic, we have interviewed Víctor Diéguez, the community manager of "El Larguero", who entered in the journalistic world because of his failed footballer dream. Now he enjoys not playing it but working in giving it out.

Víctor Diéguez studied journalism when the traditional media were the only ones, but he is working as digital journalist in a football program in Cadena Ser, El Larguero, he is the community manager of the social media of the show, where Instagram and Twitter are the most followed. This is why, he is one of the best persons to tell us more about the digitalization of journalism.

Although he started with references such as the mythical Manolo Lamas, Víctor Diéguez bets on online journalism, without leaving aside those journalistic principles that he already saw when he listened to his much-admired commentators.

Nowadays there is a new way of making journalism, however, when talking about the importance, it is something it has always been said. “We are the fourth power, although it sounds heavy. In Cadena SER I have realized we are the filter of reality”. “In a world with so many fake news, we need a filter, the one journalism makes” Víctor admitted, that the power and values of journalism are still the same although the way of sharing them is different.

Indeed, he is not so much for the “clickbite” basis, he sustains that the integrity of information should be above this principle, and, at the end, qualitative, contrasted and careful treated information is what people want to consume.

“When you try to make a clickbite, it's like junk food, it doesn't fill you up, in the end it ends up making you sick to consume so much clickbite even though from time to time we all like to eat a pizza, but it will always be better to have an informative salad, something healthier”

When we asked Víctor about the job he fulfills, he described himself as “a bridge between traditional journalism and the youngers throughout social media” He sustains that traditional media, as the radio, is disconnected from young people, and it is important to build these bridges.
