My Three Media Outlets

Jaime Barrionuevo Pineda

When being a journalist, a communicator, is not only essential to inform citizens correctly, but also doing a well self-information process. We must stay in touch with everything that occurs all around the world. Is important for that to access to truthful, relevant and contrasted data. Being the fourth power in democracy requires more than just reading some headlines on Twitter while going in the subway or bus.

I personally develop some part of this information process by checking the following media outlets several times each day:

elDiario.es : A Spanish independent online newspaper founded by journalist Ignacio Escolar. Nowadays almost all the mainstream media we access to be informed forms part of big media conglomerates financed by banks, enterprises or institutions. This one is the exception, only financed by its subscribers. Their daily newsletters and podcast of "Un tema al día" are highly recommended in order not to miss out on the latest news.

El País : A Spanish traditional and mainstream newspaper (either paper or online), owned by the media conglomerate "Grupo PRISA". Its large decades of profesional journalism bring security and relevance to the data I can read from them. They have really good newsletters too!

La Sexta : A Spanish television channel belonging to the "Atresmedia" conglomerate. Its special focus in political news and debates makes it really interesting for a politics freak like me. Profesional and with plurality of ideas. I just consume it when I can watch tv or by checking their website for more information.

Remember to be critical, be careful with the information you consume, go to different media to contrast and be responsible with the dissemination of news!
