Online journalism could contribute to journalists in many different ways. It is not only about positive issues, but it can also contribute to certain negative things, hindering the role of the journalist, which is to report truthfully, simply, and concisely.
By it, the information could be more fast spread, which means that there can be more breaking news which is most of journalism. By the same way, the information could be spread to any part you would like to. Online journalism also gives us the option to contrast information to verify the sources and get your own idea about the facts.
On the other hand, online journalism also facilitates manipulation. On the digital world anyone could write and post anything on our mind, from a lie to a reality. The problem is that sometimes it’s difficult to determine what’s the truth and what’s fake.
Besides, online journalism it’s not accessible for everyone, since people from the third world don’t have the certain tools to access it, being the internet, a digital device… leading to the topic of the digital divide.
Being a good journalist is not just about writing and posting information, but doing it properly. It’s not as easy as it seems to communicate the world in a correct way. It’s a challenge.
